The STROKEBUSTERS® Third Annual Stroke Seminar & Rapid Learning Workshop was a huge success! Held the weekend of October 22-23, 2016, more than 125 attendees, including Physicians, Nurses, Radiology Techs, EMS personnel and Physical Therapists from across the US convened to hear educational lectures by some of the area’s leading stroke physicians and medical practitioners.
The course objectives were many – the highlights of which include recent advances in the treatment of a stroke-in-progress, practical applications for the early identification of the various types of stroke, the progression of the various devices, medications and methods used to stop a stroke-in-progress, the anatomy of the brain and its response to a stroke, endovascular treatment and its positive impact on survival, and even nutrition and lifestyle choices for preventing stroke.

Lecturing at this event were Cardiologist Dr. Sergio Cossu, Neurointerventionalist Dr. Mazen Abuawad, Neurosurgeon Dr. Constanine Plakas, Lee County EMS Deputy Chief Joe Maguire, and Neurointerventionalist Nasser Razack, MD, JD. Dr. Razack, who is also Medical Director at Strokebusters® tells us, “Until just recently, stroke was the fourth leading cause of death in the nation. Those numbers are dropping, and it is now fifth. It is through the education of dedicated medical personnel from the first responders through the entire medical continuum that help save the lives that bring these numbers down.” He adds, “We feel honored to do our part in the process, and appreciate the support of those who make programs like ours possible.” Below are just some of the highlights of the day-and-a-half conference in beautiful Naples, FL.
